Theatre Alumnus receives Kyle Guyton Scholarship

Congratulations to Jackson Janowicz, BCHS Class of 2017, who was one of three recipients of the inaugural Kyle J.Guyton Memorial Scholarship. This $3000 scholarship was awarded to high school seniors or current college students who possess the qualities and attributes that made Kyle Guyton, a BCHS Theatre teacher who passed away in April of 2016, a well-loved member of theatrical, educational and faith-based communities.

Scholarship awards were chosen from students who plan to major or minor in Theatre Arts in college, have modeled compassion and integrity, have shown servant leadership, have performed community service on a regular basis and have participated in a high school, church, or community performing arts program for at least two years.

Other recipients of the award are Pike graduate Rhylan Page ’15, and Warren Central graduate Lauryn Tyler ’17.

Recent alumni participate in Shawnee Summer Theatre

Three recent BCHS alumni (Class of 2017) are part of the productions in the 2017 summer season of Shawnee Theatre, the oldest professional summer theatre in the state, located in Bloomfield, IN.

Jacob deCastro designed the season poster, (view season poster here). Jackson Janowicz wrote the play, ‘World Famous Shawnee Melodrama’ to be shown July 20-23. Jack Lockrem will be performing in that play.

BCHS Theatre teacher Bri Lindsey is the Producing Artistic Director of the Theatre. Find out more about the Shawnee Theatre. Better yet, drive down to watch a performance. Bloomfield is directly west of Bloomington, about 2 hours drive from BCHS.

Jessica Yingling, ’91, produces Hallmark Original Film

Jessica Yingling, BCHS Class of 1991, was recently highlighted in our Trojans Today, Trojans for Life magazine. View the full article on page 9.
Jessica, who received her undergrad degree in journalism and her masters in screenwriting/producing at UCLA, recently produced her first film, ‘Anything for Love’, a Hallmark film that premiered on the Hallmark channel on Feb. 14, 2016.

Lily and Madeleine (’13) Jurkiewicz debut on CBS

Madeleine Jurkiewicz, ’13, and her sister Lily made their national debut on CBS Second Cup Cafe on Oct. 5. The singing duo has been described as ‘pure’. Madeleine played Hodel in the 2013 BCHS production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Quentin Toetz, ’12, in Vincennes U. Production

Quentin Toetz, Class of 2013, is part of the cast in the upcoming production of ‘Once Upon A Mattress’ at Vincennes University. The show will run from Oct. 24-27, 2013 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center, Vincennes University.
